In this itinerary of two days and for everyone, you can! You can meet the beauty of the “petite capital”, learn about its history and taste its good food: among squares, parks, museums and churches, all without obstacles.

The itinerary starts from Piazza Duomo where you can find the Cathedral, a splendid example of Romanesque architecture, with the Correggio dome, and the Baptistery, where you can admire the Antelami sculptures. Along the Cathedral and continuing beyond, you find in front of you the Church of San Giovanni Evangelista, worth a visit for the dome also frescoed by Correggio.
Turning left onto Via Garibaldi you will find the magnificent Teatro Regio, the city's opera temple, which every year celebrates Maestro Giuseppe Verdi with the Festival dedicated to him.
Leaving the church and turning left, take Via Mameli, a characteristic pedestrian street that connects Piazza della Steccata to Via Cavour, and then you arrive in Piazza Garibaldi, the heart of the city. Nowadays the square with Palazzo del Governatore, the City hall, and the Church of San Pietro is one of the busiest spots in town, a meeting place home to bars and elegant shops. Now we are ready to end the day in a typical local restaurant for an aperitif and dinner.
On the second day, the itinerary starts from Piazzale San Francesco, where you can visit the Church of San Francesco del Prato. Reopened after restoration works, it is one of the most famous monuments of Gothic-Franciscan art in Emilia and preserves a fascinating history. From the same pretty square you can access two important museums related to the world of music: the Opera Museum and the Casa del Suono Museum.
From Piazzale San Francesco, walking through the neighborhoods of the center you will arrive at the Stuard Art Gallery, which exhibits the collection of Giuseppe Stuard in an exhibition itinerary that includes works from various artistic and pictorial cultures from the 14th and 15th centuries to the 20th century.
Form the Pinacoteca, towards Via Cavour, turn into Via Melloni and arrive at the surprising Camera di San Paolo. It is a room in the ancient convent of San Paolo frescoed by Correggio for the Abbess Giovanna Piacenza. The visit also includes the room with frescoes by Araldi.
Not far away, the Giordano Ferrari Museum Puppet Castle will amaze even the youngest visitors with one of the most important Italian collections of puppet theater.
The next stop is the important (and impressive!) Monumental Complex of the Pilotta with the National Gallery and the wonderful Farnese Theater. The Gallery houses paintings of great importance such as the works of Correggio, Parmigianino including his famous "Schiava turca" and "La Scapigliata" by Leonardo.
After so much cultural beauty, the itinerary ends with an immersion in the beauty of nature, in the monumental Ducal park, just behind Pilotta palace; here, in addition to the spectacle of nature in every season, walking you can admire the ancient statues of Boudard, the Trianon Fountain and, even if only from the outside, the spectacular Palazzo Ducale.
