Lovers of kickers, rails and pipes will find more than enough to satisfy their need for thrills in the region’s terrain parks. Scattered throughout the Apennines, there are seven resorts with areas suitable for snowboarders of all levels.

The terrain parks of Parma and Reggio Emilia

Starting from the mountains of Emilia and descending south, the first natural park we encounter is Cerreto Laghi, in the province of Reggio Emilia. In these picturesque surroundings – the slope curves around a glacial lake – a terrain park has been created, designed with both beginners and more experienced snowboarders in mind. The latter can test their mettle in the jibbing area located at the foot of the park.

Then, just a 45-minute drive from Parma, there is the Schia Monte Caio area. Here the ParKaio terrain park is located at an altitude of 1,300 metres above sea level, in the Pian delle Guide resort. With jumps, boxes and rails, ParKaio is perfect for freestyle fans. Featuring a stereo system and a refreshment point, the terrain park remains open even when the sun goes down thanks to the floodlights that illuminate the area in the evening.

The terrain parks of Modena

In the province of Modena, snowboarders can try their hand at two terrain parks, one on Mount Cimone and the other in Pievepelago and Sant’Annapelago.

Ninfa4all is the terrain park on Cimone: a benchmark for freestylers in the region, at this 1,800-metre-high resort you can access the terrain park using the same ski pass used for the slopes.
It is divided into two zones, for pros and beginners, equipped with jumps, rails and step-ups for all levels; there is no shortage of ski lifts and carpet lifts, allowing you to start all over again effortlessly.

In Pievepelago and Sant'Annapelago, the terrain park includes three box lines with two lines of jumps for beginners, those with experience and pros.

The terrain parks of Bologna and Romagna

The Corno alle Scale terrain park also allows you to experience the intoxicating thrill of jumps, rails and boxes, about a two hour drive from Bologna.

Finally, Romagna offers snowboarding enthusiasts three options to choose from at the terrain parks of the Campigna  and Fumaiolo ski resorts, in the province of Forlì-Cesena, and a the Eremo di Carpegna, close to Rimini.
Campigna has three lines of door structures and two 5- and 8- metre jumps, a bar right in the terrain park area and a snowboard rental service at the starting point of the slopes. The park in Fumaiolo, which is very technical, was created from a red ski slope and includes boxes, rails and jumps of various types.
The Snowpark Eremo di Monte Carpegna is located at an altitude of 1,200 metres and features 8 boxes, 8 rails and 5 jumps, as well as a café.
