The work shown is strictly connected to the artist's research, who, since the beginning of his career, has been collecting images from various materials: agricultural and botanical manuals, essays on ornithology and natural sciences, pages from newspapers, herbariums, Renaissance notebook images taken from rural iconography.
For the Piacenza exhibition, Francesco Simeti proposes a reflection on Nature and what makes people buy its images. He reflects on the nature of images, considered as fossils of the future. Simeti proposes themes that are a leitmotif of his research: the environmental crisis, the drama of conflicts and the consequent displacement of people, the coexistence of real and artificial, past and future, physical and digital.
When: Nov. 24, 2022 to April 16, 2023, Friday -Sunday from 10.30 a.m. to 7.30 p.m.
Where: XNL, Piacenza, Via Santa Franca
This exhibition project stems from the invitation addressed to two contemporary artists – Meris Angioletti (Bergamo, 1977, lives and works in Paris) and Ulla von Brandenburg (Karlsruhe 1974, lives and works in Paris) – to reflect on the figure of the Russian-French artist Sonia Delaunay, who was born in Odessa (Ukraine) in 1885 and died in Paris in 1979. The reflection focuses particularly on the adventure of the Atelier Simultané, active from 1923 to 1934, an extension of the house-studio in Paris on Boulevard Malesherbes, where Sonia Delaunay lived with her husband Robert.
An exhibition like a dress to wear. A reflection on color and sound where color becomes number and its relationships create rhythms. An exhibition as a workshop of total creativity in which painting, sculpture, poetry, music, film and performance coexist, simultaneously dressing and cladding our bodies in motion.
The building is located on Via Santa Franca, opposite the Conservatorio Nicolini on the corner of Via San Siro, next to the Galleria d'Arte Moderna Ricci Oddi, entities with which it has created a joint project.
