Check the weather and temperature forecasts in Emilia-Romagna before you set off

The vast, inland valleys are especially hot and muggy in the summer, yet cold and possibly wet in the winter months. This is what Emilia-Romagna's subcontinental climate tends to look like.

The fog and bitter cold that autumn can bring are tempered by decidedly milder temperatures along the coastline owing to the nearby Adriatic Sea.

Nonetheless the risk of rainfall remains high in autumn and spring, especially in the upper valleys, whilst snowfall in the northern part of the Apennines can reach a metre and a half in winter, much to the delight of tourists and mountain enthusiasts.

The best way to stay informed on the weather conditions in Emilia-Romagna is to check the website run by ARPA (Emilia-Romagna’s Prevention, Environment and Energy Regional Agency).
