The MUBIT – Italian Basketball Museum, the first permanent museum entirely dedicated to Italian basketball, officially opened on Saturday, April 18, 2026.
Created for basketball fans, sports enthusiasts and culture lovers, MUBIT is a new space devoted to the history of basketball in Italy. To mark the opening, the museum presents the exhibition “Italbasket, Over 100 Years of Endless Azzurro”, an immersive journey through more than a century of history, from 1921 — the founding year of the Italian Basketball Federation — to the present day.
The exhibition retraces the triumphs, iconic moments and challenges of the Italian men’s and women’s national basketball teams, celebrating both the legends who shaped an era and the new talents building the future of Italian basketball.
The exhibition design offers an immersive experience combining historical value, emotion and innovation, featuring original memorabilia, archival images, digital installations and interactive displays. Visitors will also discover large-scale photographs, original jerseys worn in legendary matches, basketballs, trophies, coaches’ boards and historic pictures.
The exhibition includes a Hall of Fame dedicated to the greatest figures of Italian basketball — players, coaches and managers — alongside projections of the sport’s most iconic plays, transforming every athletic gesture into image, memory and art. Interactive stations also allow visitors to hear the voices of the protagonists and relive the atmosphere of the court.
More than just an exhibition, Italbasket is a story of sport, identity and collective memory: the history of the Italian national basketball team told through the eyes of those who played it, narrated it, followed it and loved it across generations.
