Carpi confirms itself as the “capital” of this artistic technique. This new exhibition, until 1st October, shows forty years of the history of xylography in Carpi.
A bond between the city of the Pio family and this particular artistic technique, was established by the figure of Ugo da Carpi (1470-1532), considered one of the most important xylographers of the Renaissance, as well as the inventor of the so-called “chiaroscuro” in wood engraving.
