Ferrara continues to be the capital of world-class international music with Ferrara Musica’s new 2026/2027 season, a programme that will bring some of the world’s most prestigious orchestras, conductors and soloists to the Teatro Comunale Claudio Abbado and the city’s main cultural venues.
The season will feature over 25 events, ranging from the Renaissance repertoire to contemporary works, alternating between grand symphonic concerts, chamber music, special projects and initiatives dedicated to young people.
The programme will open on 13 September with the Frescobaldi Day and on 16 September with the Mozart Orchestra, conducted by Daniele Gatti, in a concert dedicated to Beethoven, Wagner and Schumann. International guests will include Iván Fischer with the Budapest Festival Orchestra, Sir András Schiff, Kent Nagano, Jordi Savall, the Accademia Bizantina and the Chamber Orchestra of Europe.
There will also be a strong focus on pianists and young performers, with recitals by Mikhail Pletnev and Filippo Gorini, as well as the debut of the new ‘Aperitivi in musica’ format, designed to bring the public closer to emerging talents through concerts followed by informal get-togethers.
Among the most eagerly awaited projects are the complete cycle of Beethoven’s Sonatas for Violin and Piano with Carolin Widmann and Gabriele Carcano, and the ‘Focus Nicola Sani’, dedicated to the contemporary composer from Ferrara.
The season will also involve some of the city’s most iconic venues, such as Palazzo Schifanoia and the Pinacoteca Nazionale, with events dedicated to early music and the cultural heritage of the House of Este.
