Curated by Luce Lebart in collaboration with Urs Stahel, Inventions presents photographs of the most ingenious and surprising inventions created in France between the two World Wars, taken for the collections of Archive of Modern Conflict (London) and Archive National (National Archives) (France).
Produced with no artistic intention, these images have surprising aesthetic qualities and constitute the visual records of twenty years of research and inventions first anchored in times of crisis and later in civil and domestic life. The exhibition at MAST outlines an outstanding history of innovation, at the junction of science, technology, industry and design.
