In Piacenza, you can explore two magnificent domes in the heart of the historic center, where you'll discover extraordinary frescoes and enjoy stunning views of the city.

With the extended opening of the dome frescoed by Pordenone in the Basilica of Santa Maria di Campagna until July 31, 2025, visitors can now use a single ticket to visit both this dome and the one painted by Guercino in the Cathedral.

Santa Maria di Campagna stands along the Via Francigena, which runs through the city centre south of what were once the Roman walls of Piacenza. The current building dates back to the Renaissance period, designed by Alessio Tramello, pupil of Bramante, and decorated inside by artists active in Piacenza during the 17th and 18th centuries, in addition to Pordenone.

The cathedral of Piacenza, in the heart of the city, offers an aesthetic that mixes Romanesque origins with interventions linked to the Counter-Reformation.

In both domes, figures of prophets and sibyls dominate, juxtaposed with stories of the Virgin.
