Inside the beautiful Monumental Complex of the Pilotta of Parma, from March 18 to July 31, 2022 a large exhibition dedicated to the patronage of the Farnese family will be on display, investigating the extraordinary affirmation of this family in the European political and cultural scene from the 16th to 18th century through the use of the arts as an instrument of legitimation.

The scientific project presents two new aspects, dealing with the themes of Renaissance collecting with the tools of Global History and of including the great architectural factories in the patronage of the family.

The exhibition will present over 300 works from Italian and European public and private collections together with works from the Farnese Collection in Parma.
The exhibition itinerary, developed around different thematic nuclei - Architecture, Art, Power - will be set up in the different spaces of the Pilotta Complex: the Voltoni del Guazzatoio, the Farnese Theatre, the Petitot Gallery of the Palatine Library and the National Gallery.
