Russi (Ròss in Romagna) is an Italian town of the province of Ravenna near Faenza and Forlì (about 20km), as well as Imola and Cesena (about 40km).

Don't miss

The town boasts a two-thousand-year history, as attested by the archaeological area on which the important Roman Villa stands, surrounded by the ecological rebalancing area. Worth visiting are the Antiquarium of the villa and the Civic Museum preserved in the city, inside the ancient castle.

A few steps from the historic centre, next to the embankment of the Lamone river, stands the seventeenth-century complex of Palazzo San Giacomo or Delizia dei Rasponi, the summer residence of the counts, which today, as in the past, is a place for shows and cultural meetings.
In the golden age of the Rasponi, the wines were aged in the cellars of the palace: Trebbiano, Canena and Uva d'Oro.

On the table

The typical dishes of Russi are linked to the Fira di Sett Dulur (fair), and are: cappelletti with ragù, Bël e cöt (sort of cotechino or pork sausage) with mashed potatoes, canèna nova and ciambella.

We remind visitors of the cellars of Palazzo San Giacomo, where the wine of the Canena, Trebbiano and Uva d'Oro varieties is left to age.

Significant appointments

The Fira di Sett Dulur (Fair of the Seven Pains) is the oldest festival in the province of Ravenna, since it dates back to the 17th century, and was linked to the order of Servite friars present in Russi at that time. It takes place in the third week of September and presents a wide range of musical and cultural events as well as gastronomic events, with typical dishes of Romagna.

In the surroundings

A few kilometers from Russi in the small town of S. Pancrazio we find the beautiful parish church dating back to the VIII century and along the road that leads to Ravenna, in the hamlet of Godo surrounded by the countryside, there is the parish church of S. Stefano in Tegurio dating back to the VIII/IX century, counted among the very ancient parish churches of Romagna.

On the road that leads from Russi to Bagnacavallo you come across the small town of Cortina where there is the ancient oratory of Santa Rosa da Lima, a small church built by Bonifacio Spreti in 1683, and the church dedicated to Saint Thomas the Apostle.
