    Curiosity
During the Christmas period, Cesenatico lights up with the famous Maritime Nativity, set up on boats moored in the canal: over 50 life-size statues tell Nativity scenes and daily maritime life, in a truly unique play of lights on the water.
A stroll by the sea not to be missed among silences, waves and salty air: a simple and poetic experience.

To end the day, a dinner in local restaurants offers authentic flavours: fish stew, clams, grilled fish from the Adriatic.

  • Second stop – Gatteo Mare Gatteo

The second day continues south to Gatteo: the perfect place to explore winter history and architecture.

    Things to see and do

    • Piazza Vesi, the center of the town and starting point of the free guided tours organized by Italia Nostra: in about an hour on a Saturday morning, expert guides accompany you through the secrets of the town.
    • “Gli Antonelli” Cultural Center, former Casa del Fascio now restored, hosts the Ceccarelli Municipal Library and an evocative archaeological exhibition dedicated to local protohistory: a dive into the origins of the territory, with finds from excavations carried out between 2008 and 2021. The exhibition can be visited by reservation during the library opening hours.
    • Remains (walls and tower) of the Malatesta Castle, with the stone bridge that replaces the ancient drawbridge.
    • Oratorio di San Rocco, a small fifteenth-century jewel decorated with frescoes dedicated to historical plagues. Open exceptionally during these guided tours.

  • Third stop - San Mauro Pascoli San Mauro Pascoli

The last day begins with a walk along the quiet seafront promenade of San Mauro Mare: in winter, the silent beach, the sound of the waves and the crisp breeze create a relaxing, almost poetic atmosphere.

A few steps and you get into the Don Ivo Rossi Park, a perfect green space for those who like to stay active even in the cold season: there are footpaths, an inclusive fitness area, a football pitch and a basketball court.

When the freeze air whets the appetite, it is the ideal time for a break in one of the trattorias or restaurants open all year around: cappelletti, passatelli and fresh fish from the Adriatic, wait for you in warm and welcoming surroundings.

The afternoon continues in the nearby village of San Mauro Pascoli, the cradle of poetry and Made in Italy.

The first stop is Casa Pascoli, the birthplace of the poet Giovanni Pascoli: today it is an interactive museum where you can discover his life, his verses and his deep bond with the land of Romagna

A few kilometres away is Villa Torlonia - Pascoli Poetry Park where you can immerse yourself in history with an accessible multimedia itinerary, surrounded by a large park perfect for a cultural walk.

If you visit San Mauro in winter, you may find the town animated by Christmas markets, nativity scenes and shows. In autumn, on the other hand, the San Crispino Fair - dedicated to footwear - is a perfect opportunity to discover local flavours and handicrafts.

Finally, it’s nice to know that you can end your day with some classy shopping! The footwear district of San Mauro Pascoli is renowned for the production of high quality shoes, with prestigious Made in Italy brands.

The company outlets open all year around offering the opportunità to purchase luxury footwear and accessories at bargain prices, making shopping an unmissable experience for fashion lovers.

San Mauro Mare and San Mauro Pascoli, even in winter, offer a perfect balance of relaxation, culture, shopping and tradition.
