Why visit it

San Mauro Mare is a clean and tidy and also lively seaside resort that offers a wide range of attractions to both adults and kids. The historic Rubicone river separates the village from Gatteo a Mare.

The town is very quiet thanks to the pedestrian areas that make San Mauro Mare an ideal family holiday place. Awarded from 2008 to 2014 and in 2022 with the Blue Flag, it was one of the first municipalities along the Adriatic coast to possess the EMAS Certification, the most important European recognition in the field of environmental quality.

When to go and what to see

The best time to visit San Mauro Mare is in the summer. From June to September your motto will be “fun and relax”: the pedestrian area is excellent for shopping and there's the beach, where children can play and swim peacefully. This little part of coast has a lot of tourists both Italians and foreigners, thanks to qualified beaches and structures suitable for differents needs: hotels, residences, flats, camping and also a “Fido Beach”, a beach where you can go with your four-legged friends and the Fido Amare where it is also possible to bathe dogs.

A holiday in San Mauro Mare is also fun thanks to the multiplicity of events, like theater, entertainment for children, dancing nights, and the San Mauro Mare Village, a qualified entertainment staff.

And where if not at the sea can you can find the resort just inside the waves? The first weekend in July, you can discover the Shell Fair and the famous Pink Night.

Only 7 km away, easily reached by car, is the main town, San Mauro Pascoli. Located in the center of a plain, San Mauro Pascoli lies between two rivers – Uso and the historical Rubicon – the Ancient Via Emilia and the sea. The documented origins of the village date back to 1191, when it was mentioned for the first time as " Fundum Sancti Mauri”". In 1932 the name San Mauro of Romagna was modified, by a Regal Decree, to "San Mauro Pascoli" in honor of the great poet.

The historical centre, the town’s heart, has maintained the eighteenth-century town hall, the ex-church of San Sebastiano and the little museum of Pascoli’s home. Only 2 km away there is the “Tower”, a place of the poet's chlildhood.

Don't miss

You cannot leave without having participated in free excursions of “Pascoli itineraries” to discover the treasures of art and to taste the typical products guaranteed by the quality of Romagna.

Not to mention the delicious blue fish from the Adriatic, home-made pasta, tasty grilled meat, generous wine and the famous piadina.

On the table

San Mauro’s cuisine is based on delicious fresh fish, which you can eat in the typical local restaurants, as well as the classic ‘piadina romagnola’ (typical bread from this region), home-made pasta and the vegetables of the “Orto of Pascoli”. You cannot go back home without tasting a blue Adriatic anchovy dish such as saraghina, alicette or the local wines such as Sangiovese, Trebbiano, Albana and Pagadebit.
