The town of Bobbio, in the Piacenza hills of the Trebbia Valley, offers carnival parades and masked balls every year.
Local groups make masks and costumes for the floats, which parade for two Sundays. The masked ball, with an award ceremony for the best costumes, is held on the Saturday before the end of the event.
The 2025 edition takes place on Sunday 2 and 9 March, with the ball on the evening of Saturday 8 March.
Goliardia and fun find space in one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, characterised by the Gobbo bridge over the river and the twisted medieval streets that open onto churches and squares. There is no shortage of a typical carnival dish, the Brachettone, cured meat prepared during the winter to be eaten at Carnival and Easter.
