The 61st Palio di Santa Reparata will be held on Sunday, Sept. 1, in the picturesque setting of Terra del Sole, an ideal Renaissance city desired by Cosimo I de' Medici.
The Roman and Florentine Boroughs, as per tradition, will compete for the coveted Palio in an antique crossbow bench shooting competition.
Tug-of-war competitions, flag games, and finally, the exciting challenge between the crossbowmen of the two rival boroughs will take place. The competition is aimed at winning the banner depicting Santa Reparata, painted each year by different artists.
In the evening, visitors and tourists will be invited to join the "Contradaioli" to celebrate the winning borough with music and entertainment.
