Dante. La visione dell'arte  is the new important exhibition that explores and illustrates at 360 ° the figure of the Father of the "Divina Commedia" and of the Italian language set up in the rooms of the San Domenico Museums, in close collaboration with the Uffizi Galleries.

Forlì is at the center of the celebrations, between the birthplace of the Poet, Florence, and that of his death, Ravenna: Florence-Forlì-Ravenna, a must for those who, in 2021, want to deepen their understanding of the figure of Dante Alighieri, in the 700 years since the death of the Father of the Italian language.

Forlì then a "Dantesca" city, because here Dante found refuge in the autumn of 1302 with the Ordelaffi, Ghibelline lords of the city and even later, until 1313, he returned several times.

The exhibition deals with a time span that goes from the thirteenth to the twentieth century.

For the first time, the intimate relationship between Dante and art is entirely analyzed and reconstructed, presenting the artists who have ventured into the great challenge of making images of Dante's visionary power, of his works and in particular of the "Divina Commedia" , or they dealt with themes similar to those of Dante, or they drew episodes or individual characters from him, releasing them from the whole story and making them live in themselves.

The exhibition itinerary is very rich; 300 works of art including creations by Giotto, Beato Angelico, Filippino Lippi, Michelangelo, Tintoretto, up to Sartorio, Boccioni, Casorati and other contemporary masters. And about 50, including paintings, sculptures and drawings will come from the Uffizi, but not only. There are also loans from the Hermitage in St. Petersburg, the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool, the National Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art in Rome, the Borghese Gallery, the Vatican Museums, the Capodimonte Museum and many others.
