"Sophia Loren. The Myth of Beauty Drawn with Light," a photography exhibition by the Cirulli Foundation celebrating the life and career of actress Sophia Loren.
The exhibition features sixty-two images—35 of which are from the Cirulli Foundation Collection—among the most iconic works by great photographers such as Elio Luxardo (1908-1969), Ugo Mulas (1928-1973), Tazio Secchiaroli (1925-1998), Pierluigi Praturlon (1924-1999), Carlo Riccardi (1926-2022), Gianni Berengo Gardin (1930-2025), David Montgomery (1937), and Sante D’Orazio (1956). The photographs portray Sophia Loren in various contexts, from social events to breaks between takes, to more everyday situations.
A section of the exhibition is dedicated specifically to the Neapolitan area, where the actress grew up: 13 photographs taken in the 1970s by Pino Settanni, one of the most eclectic and visionary Italian photographers of the 20th century. The selection of photographs, part of the Cirulli Foundation Collection, is dedicated to Vicolo della Duchesca, an area adjacent to Piazza Garibaldi, famous for its historic market and the beating heart of Naples, and represents one of Pino Settanni's first and most significant experiences of social reportage.
The exhibition is also accompanied by some film posters from "Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow" (1963), the cult film that cemented Loren's image as a diva of the Seventh Art.
