The large Brisighella altarpiece commissioned by the Naldi family from the artist Giovanni Francesco Barbieri, known as Guercino, called "San Francesco d'Assisi e San Ludovico di Francia" (1618), is finally back to being visible to the public at the Ugonia Museum in Brisighella.
The work, previously exhibited at the Collegiate Church of Brisighella, had been moved and made safe due to the structural problems that still affect the church.
The long-awaited inauguration of the new exhibition will be held on Saturday 23 December, together with the temporary exhibition "Homage to Guercino" by Pietro Lenzini (23 December 2023 - 25 February 2024), the first of the exhibitions curated by Franco Bertoni which will further enrich the exhibition of this important work.
Two other minor works belonging to the artistic heritage of the Church of S. Francesco are on display together with Guercino's.
