From the 29th May until the 31st of October 2021, Raphael's Madonna Sistina comes virtually back to its original site: the monastery of San Sisto in Piacenza.
The masterpiece was commissioned by Pope Julius II in 1512; the monks sold it in 1754 to August III of Saxony. From that moment on the art work has been preserved in Dresden, where it is still on display.
The exhibition will lead visitors through rooms, which were never opened before. It will be possible to discover some details of the masterpiece and some areas of the monastery through videos and virtual reconstructions.
