An evening under the stars that smells of America, overwhelming rhythm and timeless melodies: this is the appointment in Piazza Libertà with the Toscanini Academy – Big Band, directed by Beppe Di Benedetto.
A young and charismatic orchestra, ready to revive the great classics of jazz and swing from the 20s and 30s, in an irresistible musical journey. On the program, legendary pieces such as In the Mood and Moonlight Serenade by Glenn Miller, Sing, Sing, Sing by Benny Goodman, and the sparkling Soul Bossa Nova by Quincy Jones, also famous as the soundtrack to the film “Austin Powers”.
There will be no shortage of rhythmic surprises such as American Patrol, a spectacular and patriotic march, and forays into modern jazz with Count Bubba by Gordon Goodwin, a contemporary icon of the genre. The concert will also offer moments of pure emotion with Body and Soul (1929), the most recorded standard in history, and the timeless Take the A Train by Duke Ellington, a symbol of American orchestral jazz.
