  • First stop – UNESCO Site of Modena Modena

We begin our day in the vibrant heart of Modena. In 1997, the Cathedral, the Civic Tower, and Piazza Grande were declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Step inside the Duomo, a Romanesque masterpiece, and be struck by the harmony of its forms, the detailed reliefs, and the way winter light filters through with striking clarity. Then climb the Ghirlandina Tower: from the top, the historic center unfolds beneath you, and on clear days, the Apennines trace the horizon.

Overlooking the square, the Historic Rooms of the Modena Town Hall are also worth a visit. Frescoes, historic furnishings, and symbols like the Secchia Rapita tell the story of the city’s civic memory, linking past and present.

In just a few steps, you can traverse centuries of history, art, and city life!

    Curiosity
The attic of the Modena Town Hall houses the Municipal Balsamic Vinegar Cellar, which can be visited by reservation with a Master from the Consorteria of Traditional Balsamic Vinegar of Modena.

  • Second stop – Ducal Palace of Modena Modena

Just a short walk from the city center is the Ducal Palace of Modena, one of Italy’s most important Baroque buildings and today home to the Military Academy.

    To do
On weekends, guided tours are available, allowing access to the palace’s most representative spaces, including the Hall of Honor and the State Apartments. It’s the perfect opportunity to discover the history and elegance of a place that tells centuries of art and power.

    To know
The visit also provides insight into the Este family, who made Modena the capital of their duchy in 1598.

  • Third stop – Luciano Pavarotti House Museum Modena

In the afternoon, head to the Luciano Pavarotti House Museum, where you can immerse yourself in the life and extraordinary career of the world-renowned tenor.

Inside the house-museum, you’ll find his most iconic stage costumes, photographs, and videos capturing the key moments of his artistic journey, along with awards, honors, and memorabilia from over forty years performing on opera stages around the globe.

  • Fourth stop – Traditional Balsamic Vinegar Museum in Spilamberto Spilamberto

We conclude our day in Spilamberto, at the Traditional Balsamic Vinegar Museum, where you can discover one of the region’s most iconic products.

The museum tells the story and culture of this emblematic product. Guided tours take visitors through centuries-old barrel sets and traditional tools, explaining the time-honored, patient process that makes Modena’s Traditional Balsamic Vinegar truly unique.

    Tip
For a deeper experience, you can join a guided tasting, becoming a “taster for a day.” Even in the heart of winter, surrounded by the rich aroma of the barrels and the museum’s cozy atmosphere, the visit becomes an unforgettable sensory experience.
