There is no great artist who has not spoken of Mary Magdalene.
And so the greatest female myth of our history, the mysterious and misunderstood figure, Mary Magdalene, is at the center of this long-awaited new exhibition set up in Forlì in the halls of the San Domenico Civic Museum from March 27th to July 10th, 2022.
The exhibition "Maddalena. Il mistero e l'immagine" is a significant journey with over 200 works from all the most important museums in the world, which starts from the third century AD, through the Middle Ages, the Renaissance and the Baroque, up to the twentieth century.
Among the great masters in the exhibition: Masaccio, Crivelli, Van der Weiden, Bellini, Perugino, Barocci, Savoldo, Mazzoni, Tiziano, Veronese, Tintoretto, Domenichino, Lanfranco, Mengs, Canova, Hayez, Delacroix, Böcklin, Previati, Rouault, Chagall, De Chirico, Guttuso, Melotti, Sutherland, Bill Viola.
