From 11th May to 9th July, Ravenna Festival is back with a rich programme of events – from music to ballet and theatre.

"E fu sera e fu mattina" ("And there was evening and there was morning" – Genesis I) is the title of the 35th edition of the festival – which uses the words that mark the succession of the days of the Creation in Genesis – highlighting the effects of climate change on our planet, opting for new sustainable practices for live shows, but also the value of creativity as a resource for inclusive and multi-cultural communities.

The festival opens on 11th May with a concert of Wiener Philarmoniker conducted by Riccardo Muti, and goes on with top artists such as Kirill Petrenko and the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester, Sir Simon Rattle and the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, Filippo Gorini and David Fray with violinist Renaud Capuçon.

Worth a mention in the list of artists are, among others: Eleonora Abbagnato, protagonist of the International dance gala, Sergio Bernal, Giovanni Sollima, Mario Brunello, Accademia Bizantina, Michele Campanella, and many others.

The programme also features various theatre shows, with the journey into non-European literature of Grande Teatro di Lido Adriano with Panchatantra, o le mirabolanti avventure di Kalila and Dimna; the adventure of Don Chisiotte ad ardere with Marco Martinelli and Ermanna Montanari of Teatro delle Albe/Ravenna Teatro and Fanny & Alexander with Nina, featuring the award-winning American soprano Claron McFadden.

Ravenna Festival also touches other locations out of town, such as Cervia-Milano Marittima with Laura Morante, Margherita Vicario, Pupi Avati and Paolo Fresu; Pavaglione in Lugo with Colapesce and Dimartino, Hildur Gudnadóttir and John De Leo and Palazzo San Giacomo in Russi with Lunga notte del ballo popolare.
