From October 2, 2026, to January 10, 2027, the Pinacoteca Nazionale di Bologna hosts 'Heaven on Earth: Saint Francis and Bologna Between the 16th and 17th Centuries'. Set in the evocative Salone degli Incamminati and throughout the museum's rooms, the exhibition celebrates the eighth centenary of the death of Saint Francis of Assisi through masterpieces by the greatest masters of the Bolognese school.
The exhibition itinerary creates a dialogue between the precious artworks of the National Museums of Bologna and important loans from other Italian institutions. Visitors will have the opportunity to discover how the iconography of Saint Francis transformed between the 16th and 17th centuries, admiring up close paintings by artists of the caliber of Francesco Francia, the Carracci, Guido Reni, Francesco Albani, and Guercino.
To enrich the exhibition experience, throughout the duration of the show, the museum offers a rich and varied program of side events for all ages, including guided tours, in-depth lectures, educational activities, and musical initiatives
