From 28th October to 2nd November the 5th Chessboxing World Championship will take place at the Play Hall in Riccione.
The chessboxing is a relatively recent sports practice that combines two distant disciplines at first very superficial glance such as boxing and chess, in which muscles are needed on the one hand and brains count on the other.
The four previous editions were held in Asia, India and Turkey, while the one scheduled in Riccione represents the first world-class event in Europe that also coincides with the 20th anniversary of the birth of this sport.
During each match, chess players play 11 alternating rounds of chess and boxing with a minute's rest between rounds to allow the contenders to change.
The World Chessboxing Championships will be held in the Senior, Veteran and Youth categories, which are also joined by the World Light Chessboxing Championships and the World Fit Chessboxing Championships.
