The 6th edition of Cara Forlì is back: The Great Liscio Festival.
On Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 September, Piazza Saffi will host the biggest names in liscio, alongside new and traditional orchestras.
Special guests over the two days: I Nomadi and the Mirko Casadei Popular Orchestra.
An event within the event, ‘Let’s All Dance Liscio in Piazza Saffi’, will feature performances by Romagna dance schools on the two dance floors set up in the entertainment area of the large square. The public will be able to dance accompanied by the instructors and dancers from the Romagna dance schools Le Sirene Danzanti, New Dance Club and the Gruppo Folk Italiano alla Casadei.
The festival will be further enhanced on Sunday 6 September by the launch of a new book dedicated to Liscio, edited by journalist and writer Mario Russomanno, entitled “È qui la festa! Luoghi e Atmosfere del ballo liscio dal 1880 al 1970” (Here’s the Party! Places and Atmospheres of Liscio Dancing from 1880 to 1970). Joining the author on stage will be Mayor Gian Luca Zattini, Riccarda Casadei and Mirko Casadei. On Sunday 6 September, members of the public attending the festival will be able to collect a free copy of the book near the stage.

Performances by the ‘Città di Forlì’ and ‘Carpinello’ bands, dance schools and the ‘S-ciucaren’ of Romagna. The evening will continue on stage with the wonderful voices and music of Roberta Cappelletti and her Orchestra, Alvio & Gli Alluvionati del Liscio, Luana Babini and Maurizio Tassani with the Giovani di Romagna, Matilde Montanari, lead singer of Santa Balera, Elia Righini, Enrico Sabbatani & Davide Magnani.
The evening will draw to a grand close with a special performance by I Nomadi, a legendary Italian band. A special moment dedicated to ‘Cara Forlì’ will be the duet with Moreno il Biondo.

Where: historic centre
The City of Forlì and Carpinello marching bands, together with the dance schools and the S-ciucaren of Romagna, will parade through the streets of the city centre, converging on Piazza Saffi.
‘La Storia di Romagna’, a Romagnolo aperitif with Veronica Castellucci, Patrizia Ceccarelli and Mauro Ferrara, alongside the Giovani di Romagna Dirlinger, lead singer of Santa Balera, and Anna De Leo of Emisurela with Lorenzo Kruger, will bring the great tradition of Liscio to the stage, inviting the audience to take an exciting plunge into the tradition of Romagna’s folk music.
The two-day event will draw to a grand close with two unmissable events: the launch of Mario Russomanno’s book, attended by the Mayor of Forlì, Gian Luca Zattini, Riccarda Casadei and Mirko Casadei.
Next up is the Mirko Casadei Popular Orchestra. To mark the Casadei Orchestra’s 25th anniversary on stage, Mirko is celebrating with a reunion of his soloists, in honour of Raoul Casadei.
