More than 300 athletes from at least 12 different nations are expected for the first edition of the Transplant Football World Cup to be held in Cervia from 8th to 14th September.
The competition will feature teams from member countries of the World Transplant Federation competing in a FIFA World Cup format to crown an International Champion. Teams will compete in a preliminary round, with the best teams qualifying for the semi-finals and knockout finals.
The competition programme will begin with a welcome opening ceremony - which will include a parade of athletes and the flags of the countries they represent - and will continue with a public conference on the value of giving and sport as a tool for wellbeing.
