On Sunday, March 29, at 8:45 p.m., an immersive performance of the Stations of the Cross involving about 120 participants will be held in the charming historic center of Civitella di Romagna, a village in the Apennines near the Tuscan border.
The route of the Via Crucis (Way of the Cross) will start from the church of Santa Maria in borgo and will go through the streets of the center, retracing the salient stages of the Passion of Christ. Starting with the triumphal entry into Jerusalem, the play will narrate the Last Supper, Judas' betrayal, the confrontation with Pilate and Jesus's painful condemnation.
Some important scenes will be represented, like the touching encounters with Veronica, Mary and the pious women, the falls and the precious help of Cyrenaeus. The climax of the event will be the crucial moment of Christ's death and resurrection.
The event will be enriched by the texts by Pope Francis, giving deep spiritual meaning to the performance.
