Giuseppe Verdi's famous opera will be staged in Bologna at the Teatro Comunale Nouveau from 19 to 23 April.
Set in and around Palermo in 1282, it tells of the heroic attempts of the Sicilians to free the island from French occupation.
Attempts that culminate in the revolt with a historic massacre, and the discovery that the French governor is actually the condottiere of the Sicilian patriots.
