From 1st March to 3rd May 2026, the halls of MAR - Ravenna Art Museum host Mattia Moreni. Dalla regressione della specie e all'umanoide, an exhibition that celebrates the works of one of Italy's leading painters of the 20th century.
The exhibition at MAR is the last event of a wide-ranging project curated by Claudio Spadoni involving five different museums in Romagna with a series dedicated to Mattia Moreni, who, after long stays in Paris, lived in Romagna between 1970 and his death.
The series Regressione della Specie and Umanoidi represent the latest moments of research of one of the most original and troubled Italian artists of the 20th century. The exhibition at MAR – curated by Serena Simoni – collects around thirty works divided in two sections, to tell the production of the artist from the '80s to his death in 1999.
The two sections of works are followed by a third path displaying photos and documents highlighting the interest of numerous Italian and international critics in his work.
