After the necessary post-earthquake architectural renovation, this ancient “Delizia” (rural villa) of the Este family is now partially open: a magical place that accompanied the splendour of the dynasty and fascinated its visitors for centuries. The heart of the building, the sumptuous “Salone dei Mesi” (The Hall of Months) and the apartments of Duke Borso, offer a new immersive and emotional visiting experience.
The historical rooms interact with the exhibition “Schifanoia and Francesco del Cossa. The gold of the Este family”, a collection of works belonging to the Museums of Ancient Art related to Borso and a significant selection of “guests” linked to the Ferrarase School.
A journey through Pisanello medals, the sculptures of Domenico di Paris and Guido Mazzoni, the colours of the Estensi miniaturists and painters active in – or influenced by - The Hall of Months, in close comparison with the protagonist of this extraordinary masterpiece: Francesco del Cossa (c.1430-1478).
The ticket includes a visit to the Lapidary Museum.
