  • First stop – Palazzo dell’Archiginnasio and the Anatomical Theater Bologna

To begin the day exploring the city’s history, there’s nothing better than letting professionals guide you on a tour of the Anatomical Theater and the halls of Palazzo dell’Archiginnasio.

This building was the home of the oldest university in the Western world, where some of the earliest studies on human anatomy were conducted.

During the guided tour, you’ll discover the university’s history and traditions, its former students, and the famous professors of the era. Additionally, you’ll gain access to some rooms usually closed to the public, unless they’re occupied by events.

Here you’ll find the evocative Anatomical Theater, entirely clad in wood, where anatomy lessons were held.

    Curiosities

Here, the charm of ancient studies and historical manuscripts is timeless: let yourself be surprised by the countless plaques of students from all over the world that decorate the walls of the inner courtyard and the palace.
