Fontevivo is a small village near the exit Parma Ovest of the motorway and it is about 4 km from Fontanellato.
Thanks to its position on a busy route from Central Europe to the Mediterranean, Fontevivo is home to the Po Valley Import-Export Centre.
Its historical importance is linked to the presence of a Cistercian Abbey founded in 1142.
In the simple and austere interior, among the significant works that the church holds is a Madonna enthroned with Child, known as the "Madonna della rosa" for the flower she holds in her hand, in red Verona marble attributed to the sculptor Benedetto Antelami.
Next to the church is the Collegio dei Nobili built by the Farnese in 1733 (in the area of the ancient monastery).
On June 13, 2026 the Parmigiano Reggiano Museum opened in its new location inside the historic 17th-century Capuchin Church, in Piazza Convento near the Abbey. The renewed museum highlights the connection between Parmigiano Reggiano, the local landscape, and the work of medieval monks who helped develop dairy production in the area.
