Schia is located near Monte Caio, an isolated mountain range of the Parma Apennines full of woods and panoramic views of rare beauty.

When to go and what to see

The ski resort, located at 1200-1500 meters of altitude, is particularly suitable for downhill skiing with a number of slopes. Cross-country skiing is also possible. There are a total of 15 ski-lifts.
Both in winter and summer, a wide range of mountain lodges and restaurants provide the right places for a break or a lunch surrounded by woods and nature.

This town is a prefered destination among families with many children. Here, children can have fun playing even without skis thanks to a modern magic carpet lift, near the learning slope, where there are many inflatable toy structures to play on.

For passionate skiers, Schia offers ten slopes of various difficulties for a total of 15 km, served by four ski-lifts: 2 ski-lifts, 1 magic carpet lift and 1 chairlift with two seats, opened in 2008, which carries up to 1200 people per hour. Snow is guaranteed by an artificial snow maker.

Besides the kiddie park and the cross-country skiing, there is a snowboarding park, called "ParKaio", especially for freestyle lovers, with bumps, boxes, rail and a lighting facility for night skiing.

Being surrounded by woods in a fascinating environment makes Schia a good place for a dinner in one of the local "trattoria" restaurants of the area, also in the summer time.
