Nativity Scenes on Water in Comacchio

From December 7 to January 6, visitors can admire the enchanting nativity scenes displayed in churches, beneath the arches of bridges, and along the canals of Comacchio’s historic center.

The Nativity Scenes on Water are one of Comacchio’s most captivating and unique Christmas traditions. During the festive season, the town’s most iconic spots transform into a spectacular stage, inviting visitors to explore the city’s wonders. Each handcrafted display combines tradition and innovation, striking a perfect balance between history and creativity.

Nativity scenes under the bridges

Experience the Nativity beneath the city’s most picturesque bridges from December 7, 2024, to January 6, 2025:

  • Trepponti – Between Via Pescheria and Piazzale Luca Danese
  • Ponte di Borgo – Between Piazzetta Trepponti and Via Muratori
  • Ponte degli Sbirri – Between Via Agatopisto and Via Fogli: Featuring a Nativity made by a Bethlehem artisan with olive wood from the Holy Land
  • Ponte San Pietro – Via San Pietro
  • Ponte dei Sisti – Between Via Agatopisto and Via Buonafede
  • Ponte dei Geromiti – Via Antonio Buonafede
  • Ponte Pasqualone – Via Cavour
  • Ponte del Teatro – Between Via Cavour and Via G. Carducci
  • Ponte del Carmine – Via G. Carducci
  • Ponte Pizzetti – Between Via G. Carducci and Via A. Gramsci
  • Imbarcazione Comacina – Canal Maggiore, Via Agatopisto

  • Manifattura dei Marinati – Via Mazzini: Featuring a naturalistic Nativity by Enrico Menegatti

This project is coordinated by ASCOM Confcommercio Imprese per l’Italia of the Ferrara Province, in collaboration with local associations.

TRADITIONAL NATIVITY SCENES

  • Forecourt of the Co-Cathedral – Piazza XX Settembre: A wooden Nativity by Giglio Zarattini and Riccardo Buonafede, with a lagoon-themed setting
  • Co-Cathedral of Comacchio – Historic 18th-century Nativity
  • Diorama Nativity Scenes in the Chapel of the Sacks, offering reflections on the 800th anniversary of the Greccio Nativity
  • Church of the Fallen – Via Cavour
  • Church of the Holy Rosary – Via Sambertolo

Scenic Nativity scenes in all the churches across the area

The historic center is adorned with festive installations, lights, and traditional fishing tools and equipment from the valleys, including illuminated bolaghe and boats.
