Every year, Vigolzone(Pc) celebrates the product that originated in its castle in 1351: tortello con la coda. The festival at the end of July celebrates the dish that became a De.Co. product in 2006 with food stands, music, a dance floor, and an evening with fireworks. For 2026, the festival is held from Friday 24 to Tuesday 28 July.
The story goes that Bernardo Anguissola, feudal lord of the Visconti family and owner of Vigolzone castle, asked his cooks for a special dish to pay homage to his famous guest Francesco Petrarca. Thus was born this braid-shaped stuffed pasta that is still completely handmade by the razdore (housewives) of Piacenza.
The pasta has a ricotta and herb filling and is served with butter and sage or mushroom sauce.
