On Sunday 2 March, from 2.30 pm, Civitella di Romagna will host the 64th edition of the Civitellese Carnival.
This traditional festival has very ancient origins, dating back to the 17th century, when it represented the last moment of joy and light-heartedness before the beginning of Lent. In more modern times, the festival was relaunched in the 1960s, with a Sunday appointment.
Today, the Civitella Carnival is a lively and colourful festival, known throughout Romagna, which includes spectacular floats, groups of people in costume, masked participants, music, entertainment and a tasty gastronomic offer.
The passion for Carnival continues unabated with the passage of time: every year, many people take to the streets in the most creative and amusing costumes. With mulled wine and typical sweets, the festival is a fun occasion for all ages, from children dressed up as fairy tale characters to adults who choose ironic and irreverent disguises.
Admission is free for children up to the age of 10.
