If you’re a motor sports fan, you simply must spend a day at the Enzo and Dino Ferrari racetrack in Imola.
Located in the heart of Emilia-Romagna, this iconic circuit offers an unforgettable experience for visitors of all ages.
Since its inauguration in 1953, the Imola racetrack has been the venue for countless elite car and motorcycle competitions: the historic Imola 200 Miglia, the MotoGP World Championship, the SBK World Championship and, of course, Formula 1 (Imola currently hosts the ‘Emilia Romagna and Made in Italy Grand Prix’). And that’s not all: the alluring hills of the Enzo and Dino Ferrari Racetrack have also proved irresistible to the Le Mans Series, GT World Challenge and WEC.
The Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari is not just a racing venue though, as it offers visitors a broad range of experiences.
In spring and summer, for example, there are plenty of Open Days, giving people the opportunity to walk or cycle around the track free of charge. The updated calendar is published on the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari website.
Throughout the year you can also enjoy Racetrack Tours: a shuttle takes you round the track and into the paddock areas normally reserved for racing teams. Lastly, special Walking Tours are programmed on summer evenings and sometimes during the day.
The Enzo and Dino Ferrari Racetrack in Imola is a global motorsports Mecca. Here are a few ideas for a great day out dedicated to speed.
Located in Piazza Senna, at the main entrance, the Racetrack Info Point & Shop is a vital pre-track stop that can provide you with all the key track info.
Here you can collect the map, book a tour and even try out the simulator to experience the thrill of driving a F1 or Gran Turismo car on the Imola track!
The Imola Racetrack museum is named after Checco Costa, founder and creator of the Imola circuit.
It hosts a range of temporary exhibitions and events that span from motorsports to food and wine. In 2019 the museum façade was emblazoned with a splendid mural by Brazilian artist Eduardo Kobra in memory of the legendary Ayrton Senna.
The extensive, verdant Acque Minerali Park is located right in the middle of the track: the perfect place to relax.
It also lets you walk alongside the circuit: a stroll through the park offers several views over the Autodromo, taking in the Tamburello corner, the Villeneuve corner and a panoramic view of the Acque Minerali corner.
Since 1997 the park has also hosted the Ayrton Senna Monument, near the Tamburello corner: a poignant place for F1 fans, as demonstrated by the innumerable souvenirs and flags left in memory of the legendary driver.
A few hundred meters away, following the direction of the track, you come to the Villeneuve corner and the monument dedicated to the famed Canadian-born Ferrari driver.
