The opening of Parma 2020 Italian city of Culture, presents three days of events, exhibitions, concerts, performances and theatre.
Programme of the three days:
Saturday January 11
After the opening of the exhibition “Noi, il cibo, il nostro pianeta”, the city of Parma, all gathered in the historical center, welcomes every Italian city in a magnificent parade dedicated to "the words of Culture”. The procession will depart from the Ducal park, then along Via D’Azeglio to Piazza Garibaldi, where the Mayor will greet everybody and will launch the jingle created by Raphael Gualazzi especially for Parma 2020. At the end of the ceremony, videomapping and concerts, words, poetry and music everywhere in town.
Sunday January 12
Room for literature during the opening days: meetings with the authors and other events that will touch places far from the hsitorical center, hospitals, prison, the smallest villages “On the line of Culture: stops for everyone”. In the afternoon, at the Regio theatre, official opening ceremony, with the President Sergio Mattarella, then opening of the exhibition Time Machine at the Governor's palace.
Monday January 13
On Patron's day, Parma will turn museums and art places in a stage of unusual stories, thanks to a journey into the Golden city, books presentation and concerts all day long. In the afternoon, opening of the exhibition “Parma è la Gazzetta”, then Holy Service in the Cathedral, followed by concerts and videomapping.
