If your heart beats stronger at the thought of a day spent on the green, if you devour magazines of drivers, woods, hybrids and irons, if there’s a little Tiger Woods inside of you, mark these words! We are talking golf! Once again, Emilia-Romagna has the itinerary for you.
It starts in Modena, in the direction of the mountains. Just a few kilometres after the residential area Montale, in Colombaro (town of Formigone), there’s a village called La Tegagna.
It used to be a feudal village that belonged to the Rangone family, nobles who were greatly involved in the events pertaining to the history of the Este family. Today Colombaro is the home of the Modena Golf & Country Club. The course was projected by the German champion Bernhard Langer, who succeeded in placing the holes with respect to the morphology of the terrain. Eight hectares of one of the best golf courses in Italy, where expert and beginner golfers can experiment the pleasures of the green.
But that’s not all! If golf isn’t enough, among these hills there are also two tennis courts, two swimming pools and a billiard room. And if at the end of the day you still have energy, we suggest you enjoy the town centre of Modena with its city lights and taste the delicatessens that have made the name of the city famous all around the world or spend a few hours of well-being at the Terme della Salvarola.
The second day brings you to Castel San Pietro, precisely the Golf Club Le Fonti. Lulled by the hills of the Valle del Sillaro, this club is where you can relax outdoors, where expert or beginner golfers can have a try at extremely variant and fun courses.
Castel San Pietro is also well known for its spas. It is worth taking advantage of this occasion to combine sports with a relaxing break, where the Terme di Castel San Pietro is surrounded by a large century-old park right next to the golf courses.
The sulphuric and salso-bromo-iodic thermal waters stimulate the body’s wellbeing, in part thanks to treatment packages proposed by the Anusca Beauty Space equipped with a gym, a spa, an outdoor and indoor pool, a sauna and steam bath, sensory showers, a large relaxing room with a tea area and beauty centre.
Forlì is the last town on this itinerary dedicated to golf lovers where you will find the Golf Club I Fiordalisi, a 9-hole course in a protected oasis, with a magnificent panorama of Bertinoro.
This course is good especially for those who are curious and love the sport and who want to finally take a crack at it on this course, or better yet, on this green, and learn the basis of the sport. There is a classical course on fairways and water obstacles, a classical grass course, two putting greens and finally, for the learners, two executive holes.
Furthermore, the club has even made sure to dedicate space to an area where typical delicatessens from the Strada dei Vini e dei Sapori dei Colli di Forlì e Cesena [Wine and Dine Route through the Hills of Forlì and Cesena] can be eaten.
In conclusion to this last day, there are many treasures to be discovered in Forlì, from the Romanesque basilica of San Mercuriale with its original imposing bell tower from the twelfth century and the Complesso museale del San Domenico [museum], in the heart of the historical centre, home of the most ancient section of the art gallery.
