Lizzano in Belvedere

Lizzano in Belvedere is situated on the border with the provinces of Modena and Pistoia, at the extreme edge of the Bolognese Apennines. On its territory stands the high peak, Corno alle Scale (1945 mt), a famous ski resort.


Why visit it

Inserted within the Corno alle Scale Regional Park, the resort is a small mountain oasis, able to perfectly combine environment and traditions with the needs of modern tourism.

Mountain biking through the valleys, on foot, or spending a few hours in the peace of a lodge are the opportunities that these places offer, to regain the balance of body and mind.

Lake Scaffaiolo (km. 19), where you can enjoy a splendid panorama that opens over the Apennines and the Apuan Alps.

The five waterfalls of Dardagna (km. 12).

The ancient circular building of Lizzano, known as Delùbro, a proto-Romanesque building built in the Lombard era.


On the table

The typical dishes of the Bolognese tradition (tortellini, tortelloni, lasagne, etc.) and Modena (borlenghi, zampanelle and tigelle).


Keeping fit

In Vidiciatico there is the beautiful swimming pool "Conca del Sole" (km. 4), with a 50 meter slide, a geyser, inflatables and beach volleyball.


In the surroundings

Monte Acuto delle Alpi (km. 8), perched on a tiny hill, offers visitors the pleasure of a journey back in time and the wonderful view that can be enjoyed from the top of its walls.

Not to be missed is the church of San Nicolò, dating back to the seventeenth century, but of more ancient origins. Inside, the altarpiece painted by Pietro Faccini, a pupil of Carracci, representing the "Trinità con i Santi Nicolò, Giacomo e Lorenzo", and a wooden crucifix attributed to Andrea Brustoloni, a famous Venetian carver of the eighteenth century.

Vidiciatico, located along the road to Corno alle Scale, is a renowned center for summer and winter tourism. Worth mentioning is the characteristic ancient village with the four access vaults, the apse of the old church and the adjacent bell tower that form a characteristic corner in the square of the village. And the oratory of San Rocco, built in 1631 and dedicated to Saints Rocco and Sebastiano, to whom the cessation of the plague of 1630 was attributed. 

Poggiolforato (km. 8) houses the ethnographic museum dedicated to crafts and mountain culture.

The Marian Sanctuaries of Madonna dell'Acero (14 km) and Madonna del Faggio (20 km), built to commemorate several apparitions of the Virgin.

The visit center of the Corno alle Scale Park in Pianaccio (km. 5).
