The ALBACO Cycle Route leads to the discovery of the municipalities of Bassa Romagna from which it takes its name, Alfonsine, Bagnacavallo and Conselice, and their territory.
The loop itinerary - 70 kilometers on bike paths and slow-moving roads - is suitable for all types of cyclists, but especially for wellness lovers: in fact, the route is dotted with green areas and parks where you can stop for a relaxing break or practice sports.
Fil rouge of the ALBACO Cyclovia is the rural landscape that connects the three localities, dotted with nature reserves and evidence of local history.
Well signposted by signs, the cyclovia is looped and can therefore be taken from any point. Below is one of the possible routes:
Starting from the outskirts of Alfonsine, we immediately come across the Fascia Boscata del Canale dei Mulini, a nature reserve that hosts within it a colony of the so-called "Pipistrelle di Tebano." Before approaching the town center, a stop at the birthplace of the neoclassical poet Vincenzo Monti is recommended. Contemporary history lovers also cannot miss the Museum of the Battle of the Senio, located in the heart of the town, which tells the story of the last great front on the Senio River.
Continuing along the cycle route, you reach Bagnacavallo and its delightful historic center of medieval layout, but not before admiring a small donkey bridge and an old mill, evidence of the importance of water in the history of these places. Once you have visited Bagnacavallo, there are two unmissable stops along the way: the Pieve di San Pietro in Sylvis with its 14th-century frescoes and the Podere Pantaleone ecological rebalancing area, with flora and fauna typical of the Po Valley.
After a passage through the Lugo countryside, the route heads to the third and final stage, Conselice, and its Bosco Urbano, a green area that reconstructs the original environment of the valleys, typical of the area. Cycling through the city center, among the places not to be missed is definitely the Monument to the clandestine press and freedom of the press, which tells the story of the clandestine printing presses of Bassa Romagna that arose during the Liberation period.
