Ventasso Laghi is a small tourist resort in the heart of the National Park of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines, in the Municipality of Ventasso. It is halfway between Reggio Emilia and Parma. To arrive: at first head to Ramiseto, then follow the signs for Ventasso Laghi and Lago Calamone and go up for 8 km, by car.

A little way from the town is Lake Calamone, one of the most beautiful in the Apennines. The lake is surmounted by the peak of Mount Ventasso (1727 m), an easy excursion destination of great landscape value (marked paths).


When to go and what to see

Immersed in beech woods, in an area of great natural interest, Ventasso Laghi is an ideal tourist and ski resort for those who love cross-country skiing.

In wintertime, in Ventasso Laghi it is possible to practice winter sports, with about 10 km of slopes for alpine skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing and, in the nearby center of Pratizzano, cross-country skiing. The training slope is particularly suitable for those who want to start learning to ski, with the expert guide of the teachers of the Italian Ski School.

There are ski lifts for the ascent of the slopes.

In Ventasso Laghi there are some accommodation facilities: 2 campsites, an inn “locanda Calamone” and a sandwich shop. A couple of kilometers away there is also the ranch “balla coi lupi”, which in addition to rooms and a restaurant, offers horse riding and activities for children.

Calamone Lake is a popular tourist destination, in every season. It is possible to reach it with a 10 minute walk starting from the car park, and it is the perfect place for a relaxing walk, or maybe a picnic with a lovely view or a traditional lunch at the Rifugio Venusta.

With an hour’s walk uphill you can reach the top of Mount Ventasso, 1727 m. above sea level, to enjoy a unique panorama in the heart of the Apennines.


Keeping fit

In winter time, skiing and snow activities are predominant, but in summer it is possibile to practice horseback riding, hiking, archery, minigolf, and mountain-biking or simply have nice walks in this area. There is also a field for soccer, volleyball, and tennis.
