Spring Bank Holidays

The right opportunity to discover a Region with a thousand souls

April brings with it something definite: the light changes, the days get longer, and there comes that urge to shake off the routine.

The April 25 and May 1 long weekends are just the right time to do it.

Emilia-Romagna, at this time, is one of the most generous destinations there is. And one of the most convenient to reach: the region is at the center of the peninsula, a natural crossroads between north and south, with highways, fast trains and airports connecting it to Milan, Rome, Florence, Venice and many other cities in less than two hours.

Spring can really be felt here. The cherry trees in bloom in the Modenese hinterland, the Apennine hills regaining color, the scent of pine forest along the Romagna coast. Outside the big summer flows, these bridge days have a slower, truer pace.

One bridge, a thousand ways to experience it

For those who love walking or cycling

The 17 regional nature parks open for the best season. The trails are passable, the landscapes still fresh. The cycle paths connect villages, plains and hills: you can stay in the saddle for hours, stopping wherever you want.

For family travelers

Amusement parks reopen with the warm season. Art cities-Bologna, Ravenna, Ferrara, Parma-are pleasant to explore on foot, without the summer crowds. On the first Sunday of the month, many museums are free.

For those traveling with animals

Emilia-Romagna is also a welcoming region for four-legged animals. Beaches, agritourisms, equipped facilities: there is room for everyone.

For those who travel in freedom

The Apennine roads in spring are among the most beautiful in Italy. The passes open up again, the hairpin bends smell of resin and wet earth.

By camper or motorcycle, the landscape is best traveled when the leaves are still young and the villages along the Via Emilia are not yet crowded.

April 25: one date, one story

Emilia-Romagna is a region that carries the history of the Liberation in places, not just in books.

The Apennine ridges, the Gothic Line, the inland towns: a trip to these areas can also be a way to understand something more about who we are.

Far from the routes of mass tourism, the places of memory are often corners of rare beauty, where history and landscape intertwine in unexpected ways.

At the table, as always

These bridge days are also an opportunity to eat well-and in Emilia-Romagna that is never difficult.

Spring festivals, markets, open wineries, village trattorias. The PDO and PGI products of the Food Valley are here, within reach of your fork.

From the Apennines to the coast, from the Po Valley to the hills of Parma: during these bridge days, Emilia-Romagna has something for every pace. Spas, castles, festivals, villages. One always comes back with the feeling of having seen little.

Because a long weekend, it's never enough!

Below is a selection of events and itineraries for these bridge days.
