The Romagna Toscana Cycling Route is located within the Apennine area and it connects the towns of Bagno di Romagna and Castrocaro Terme/Terra del Sole, which are known for their thermal hot springs.
This area, which goes by the name of Romagna Toscana, is dotted with waterways and small villages, completely immersed in the green of the Apennines.
It is the perfect place for those who love the great outdoors. Here you can challenge yourself with many hiking paths and cycling routes immersed in a beautiful scenery.
Among these is the Romagna Toscana Cycling Route, a 126 km long path that winds through low traffic asphalt roads and gravel paths, woodlands and hills.
The ideal starting point would be Castrocaro Terme - Terra del Sole, where you can admire the ancient Medicean fortress city and enjoy the thermal baths.
The route then passes through Dovadola, Predappio, Civitella di Romagna, Santa Sofia, Ridracoli and it finally reaches San Piero in Bagno and Bagno di Romagna, other renowned spa resorts in the Apennine area.
The route passes through ancient villages of great historical and cultural value, unspoilt landscapes immersed in the Foreste Casentinesi, Monte Falterona and Campigna National Park and places of natural interest such as the Ridracoli Dam.
The route is also linked to other cycling routes and walking paths that reach different parts of Italy and even Europe: the Assisi Way, which intersects the cycling route in Montepaolo, just beyond Terra del Sole, and the Path of Saint Vicinio and the Saint Vicinio Cycling Route, which passes through San Piero in Bagno and Bagno di Romagna and up the Apennines to Sarsina and Cesena.
